Your sleep was restless, your head is pounding, and you dread facing the full day ahead. You repeatedly promise yourself that you won’t let this happen again, but here you are, having done it once more.

Seeking help is a powerful gift you can give yourself.

If you find yourself struggling, it's crucial to understand that you are not alone in facing these challenges. Many people experience similar emotions and situations, and seeking help is okay. It is the best gift you can and should give to yourself - you are worth it!

You likely have guilt or shame surrounding your alcohol or drug use. This burden can take a significant toll on your overall well-being, leaving you physically drained, mentally fatigued, and emotionally spent. The struggle to manage these feelings, especially when you try to do it all by yourself, can feel incredibly overwhelming.

Recognizing the weight of these issues is the first step toward seeking support. Opening up by reaching out to a professional can be beneficial in navigating these difficult emotions and finding a path toward recovery and healing. You don’t have to face this journey alone; I can help guide you through it.

Common questions about alcohol counseling

  • It's totally cool to talk about your alcohol or drug use with me. Seriously, I won't judge you. I've heard it all before, so there's no need to feel awkward. I'm here to help you reach your wellness goals, no shame involved!

  • This is a common question. Essentially, it's not my role to "make" you do anything. I'm here to help you identify the issue and find the best solution for you. If you're looking to work on moderation, I'm completely on board! I will guide you through the process.

Some people, after trying moderation, realize they are unable to moderate or find it easier to abstain entirely. I will offer my guidance and professional opinion, but remember, the choice is ultimately yours.

You can count on me to be honest. We will gather data on your consumption patterns to determine whether moderation is achievable, if that is your goal. Research shows that a percentage of problem drinkers can and do successfully moderate their alcohol consumption. You may or may not be part of this group, and we will figure this out together.

  • The short answer is no, and I completely respect your choice.

Many people find programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) very helpful, but there are also alternatives such as SMART Recovery. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.

There are valid reasons why many individuals choose not to join recovery groups like AA. Some may hold high-profile jobs that make them uncomfortable in those settings, while others might struggle with social anxiety.

It's important to honor these personal decisions and recognize that there are countless paths to recovery that do not require group participation or identifying as an alcoholic or addict.

Every individual's journey is unique, and it is essential to explore the options that resonate with you.

This is why I offer personalized one-on-one treatment, tailored for individuals seeking an approach that goes beyond a one-size-fits-all program.

You absolutely deserve this opportunity for growth and healing.
